A very dangerous tail when threatened. They eat fruit , flowers and leaves. Insects, plants may be difficult to digest. Young iguanas eat the remains of adult iguanas. They lay eggs. Iguanas may live for 30 years or more.
Extremely active during the day and asleep at night, caught this one mid - afternoon. The other name is the ground iguana difference to the marine iguana which only lives in the sea. Largest this grows to is 1.8 meters in length. They are found regionally between Mexico, Paraguay and southern Brazil.
